Grade 7 Up–Each book includes a brief introduction to the play, followed by an illustrated cast of characters and a glossary of literary terms. Annotated text from the play alternates with black-and-white illustrations of selected scenes, in the style of a graphic novel. It is unclear why the editors did not make these true graphic novels throughout. The black-and-white comic art is undistinguished, and as most of it simply depicts two characters in conversation, it does little to clarify what is going on. The first two plays in particular offer marvelous possibilities for the illustrator, so the ho-hum comics are disappointing. Think about it boxes contain study questions such as, What has worried Macbeth? and boxed Literary terms give examples like, ‘Hermia...Hermia...Helena...' is...alliteration. Teacher's guides accompany the books. Those interested in a graphic-novel interpretation might want to consider Arthur Byron Cover's Macbeth (Puffin, 2005), which is illustrated in manga style and would probably appeal more to reluctant readers. These titles might be useful for teaching Shakespeare to reluctant readers, but a better choice might be a simple annotated Shakespeare such as a Sparknotes No Fear Shakespeare series (Spark), supplemented by Bruce Coville's William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (1999) and William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night (2003, both Penguin), which are picture-book prose adaptations, or Adam McKeown's Romeo and Juliet: Young Reader's Shakespeare (Sterling, 2004).–Kathleen E. Makes Shakespeare come to life, and makes his work understandable to modern readers

Purchased this as required reading for my sons' high school literature classes. They have used several in the series, and it makes understanding Shakespeare MUCH easier. They juxtapose the traditional play on one side with modern translation on the other....most kids don't realize what amazing stories he tells because the language just seems...well, weird. They can finally understand what the teacher is actually trying to talk to them about -- imagery, figurative language, symbolism and style -- in a way they can actually relate to. Very useful book to expand on why Shakespeare was one of the greatest storytellers of his time.

One of Shakespeare's finest works. After you read this, you'll find similarities to this plot in many other books and films. Interesting characters, fantastic story-line. Note that this play can be read/downloaded for free legally many places online, but I always prefer to have the physical book.

It may be tough to get into Shakespeare at first, but after some persistence it pays off!

Great Book! Great Timing!

Great Book. Great Timing.
I just got free from a very long, bad relationship. Packed my stuff and grabbed my dog. Rented a UHaul and headed across the country to start new again. (I am 63yrs). Bought this Audio book to listen to as I drive.
I felt all the old yuck stuff leave, and the new stuff flowing in... There is so much inspiration.
Perfect book for anyone wanting to find joy and a better look at living.

This book touched my heart. Her words are inspirational. Her stories are meaningful. Throughout the book, I felt she was speaking, through her words, directly to me. It was if she knew exactly what I needed to hear, as I continue my personal life journey. Thank you. Meeting Oprah Winfrey is now on my bucket list.

I have followed Oprah since she began her TV show in Chicago. There is no other human being on this earth that has changed my life more, for the better, than Oprah. This book is so appreciated because it is a combination of all that she has learned and she is so giving and loving enough to share her wisdom. Oprah: I was lucky enough to be on your show, with three of my friends, one time. I have never met Oprah, but I couldn't love love her more. Thank you for the many years that you have helped us all to grow. I remember the tears that I shed when you retired from your daily talk show. I downloaded this book into my Kindle in the written and audio form, so I will be able to enjoy it for many years to come. Thank you so much for this amazing book.

While I don't think I can improve on Robin Benson's review, I just want to 'weigh in' and highly recommend this excellent book. It should have many more reviews. Short and sweet, it hits all the high notes and ties up a lot of loose ends. It will help you understand some of the crazy.

Definitely on the right track

If you want to know, as I did, how the ultra-conservatives, religious right and Tea (Taxed Enough Already) Party folk became a significant force in American politics and life Horwitz's book is the one to read. He pulls together the various strands of Right thinking historically but in detail from the 50s and 60s right up to the present.

Central to his analysis is the belief by the Right in American Exceptionalism: the United States is the embodiment of God's gift of freedom and constitutes the greatest earthly force for good the world has known; the universal nature of American values accompany US military ventures abroad and that war was the preferred means to defeat America's external enemies. With this in mind it certainly explains the US's political adventures around the world in the last few decades.

I thought Horwitz's chapter on the Tea Party a very succinct review of their ideology and character. Strong in the mid-west with predominantly aging white males, a dislike of intellectuals and the government though I was surprised to read that the party is in favor of government entitlements like Social Security and Medicare but for themselves: the deserving and responsible.

Considering the book is only 210 pages (but with another 70 for Notes and Index) I think the author packs in a huge amount of fascinating detail and nicely his style of writing is mostly jargon free making the book a stimulating read.

Debbie Thorne is Chair of the Department of Marketing at Texas State University, San Marcos. Previously, she served as Director of the Center for Ethics at The University of Tampa. Debbie received her Ph.D. from The University of Memphis and a M.S. in Marketing from Texas A&M University. She has published articles in many journals and is the recipient of awards for excellence in both teaching and research. Debbie has been elected to leadership positions in the American Marketing Association and Society for Marketing Advances and serves on the Board of Directors for the Direct Selling Education Foundation and e-businessethics.com.

O. C. Ferrell (Ph.D., Louisiana State University) is University Distinguished Professor of Business Ethics at Belmont University. He most recently served nine years as University Distinguished Professor Marketing and Creative Enterprise Scholar at the University of New Mexico. Unforuntately Required

This book was required for my class. I found it curiously one-sided and its tendency to assume that business ethics and values issues are substantially simpler than they are is tiresome. However, I am substantially more annoyed by the use of examples and support which do not seem illustrative of the issue at hand. At least there aren't a lot of typos.
That said, no trouble with the shipper or condition of the book. Certainly not the seller's fault that the content of the book annoys me.

This text was okay. Compared to other business textbooks, the formatting made it hard to read and it seems to be a little less durable than most other textbooks. There is one section at the end of each chapter called "What would you do?" which may be good for assignments if you choose to use this book for a college level classroom instruction.

It is important to note that "How to Street Fight" contains all the information from Ground Fighting Techniques to Destroy Your Enemy and How to Win a Street Fight plus more. This is also mentioned in the description but is important because I do not want people to purchase things they already have.

In any case, the reason for splitting the books up in the first place was so that those that just wanted certain portions could get it without having to pay for the bigger book.

I feel that it is necessary to state that my intention for this book, like all my books, is NOT to replace a trained instructor. Everyone knows that trying to teach yourself any skill from a book can never replace the value of a good instructor, and it is no different here - however - if you do not have access to an instructor (for whatever reason) and/or want some training ideas and/or tips then this book is for you. Ideally you could try the ideas out and get your instructor to correct your mistakes / help coach you to be better.

I hope you find the information inside useful. Please remember that the techniques inside this book are not to be used likely. When training please be careful, and if you have to use them in a real street fight (hopefully you are never in such a situation), please be mindful of use of force.

Wow! Just wow.

This is probably the best book on street fighting that I have ever read! I loved how there are plenty of great illustrations available on almost every page. The illustrations are awesome! They have just the right amount of detail so that I felt like I quickly understood each of the moves. I also liked how they weren't too detailed or too picturesque. This allowed me to really visualize each move.

This book is also very motivational. I found myself feeling more and more like a winner with every page turn. It's not a long book. For me, it was the perfect length. This book reminds you over and over again about the most important rule of street fighting, "Don't lie down!"

It's true that there are a lot of references to the author's other books, but this book does have enough content to stand on it's own. I highly recommend it.

Cons:

Great book with illustrations and vivid instructions

First of all, allow me to say that the main reason I bought this book was because I wanted to learn self-defense. With the number of crimes on the streets going on an upward trajectory these days, it is very important that you know how to defend yourself physically. I thought that going to a self-defense class was enough but I realized I also want a book that I could refer to anytime. This book, written by Sam Fury with illustrations by Shumona Mallick, is exactly what I needed. The descriptions are very vivid; it’s as if you’re watching an online video tutorial. I also like the part where Sam enumerated the target areas in the body, it’s something that I’m currently working on to memorize; who knows it may come in handy. I also appreciate that he put different attack combinations. Another notable feature of the book is the illustration. It would definitely be harder to picture the instructions without the illustration so I’m glad that the author included it. Overall, this is a great book but I wish he discussed more on how to anticipate an opponent’s move. It would be great if for every move, there’s a side-note saying how the opponent could possibly react. I know that’s really laborious, may be quite scientific and all, but it would be fantastic to have that!

This is a great book for anyone who needs to brush up on, or develop self defense skills. As someone who works out regularly, I found the information in this book to be relevant and practical. Each technique is fully explained with both written details and easy to follow illustrations. You also learn mental preparedness techniques, as well as knowing how to survey your opponent and your surroundings. I really recommend it for people trying to learn self defense! 5 big stars!

On the other hand, it offers a novel interpretation of Gandhi's non-violent resistance movement as being different from the Congress. It shows that the Gandhian movement, as the most powerful force largely responsible for India's independence, was anchored not in western discourses of political and legislative freedom but rather in Indic traditions of renunciative freedom, with the renouncer as leader.

This volume offers a comprehensive and new reinterpretation of the Indian Constitution in the light of this historical narrative. India in the Shadows of Empire contends that the British colonial idea of justice and the Gandhian ethos of resistance have been the two competing and conflicting driving forces that have determined the nature and evolution of the Indian polity after independence.
