I just wanted to post that I bought this book many years ago when it first was published, and I have totally fell in love that book. The heroin and the hero are fun and likeable. The heroin is a little bit of a shrew but in a good way. The hero is courageous maybe bordeline cold but shows his vulnerability at some point in the book.

About the Author

Seyyed Kamaleddin Yadavar Nikravesh, Ph.D., is a professor in the electrical engineering department at Amirkabir University of Technology. His research interests include dynamic and biomedical modeling, system stability, and system optimization. He has published five different books on electrical circuit analysis, optimal control systems, industrial control system analysis, industrial control system synthesis and design, and system stability analysis: Lyapounov-based approach. He has also published more than 180 journal and conference papers, mostly in systems modeling, and system stability analysis and synthesis, which form the main structure of his present book.

At the age of 16, she entered a convent where she trained as a nurse, and was sent to India to look after the elderly (and knew Mother Teresa). Later, in Paris, she was asked to nurse the Duke of Windsor just before he died - and many years later was introduced to Princess Diana and became her weekly confidante. In between, were bouts of serious illness, studying acupuncture in China - and being photographed by Snowdon. The Voice of Silence is the life story of a very unusual woman who has learned far more than most from all the remarkable things that have happened to her. It is also the author's thoughts on healing, spirituality and love - and how closely the three are intertwined. Full of feeling, poetic vision and insight, this book cannot fail to touch the heart of the reader, and inspire.

About the Author
Oonagh Shanley-Toffolo was brought up in Co Leitrim, Ireland, and later trained as a nurse in Dublin. During her two decades as a nun, she served the poor in both France and India. After leaving her order, she continued her nursing career in London and Paris. In 1981 she became one of the first Western women to learn acupuncture in China, following the end of the Cultural Revolution. She has known - and looked after - the two black sheep of the British royal family (Princess Diana and the Duke of Windsor), and also had to come to terms with long periods of serious illness herself. Along the way, she has learned much of great value to pass on to us all. She lives in London.

About the Author
Steve Gould and David Wilkinson are the coauthors of The Golf Delusion. They have been teaching pupils at the world-renowned Knightsbridge Golf School in London for more than 25 years, and have improved the swings of thousands of amateurs as well as leading golf pros and celebrities such as Hugh Grant, Sean Connery, and Telly Savalas. Ideal Learning Tool for DB Newbie

I highly recommend this book (or Kindle e-book in my case) for anyone new to the database world. The majority of users of computers should have access to this dynamic technology even if it's only during a limited-time trial period of MS Office. During that trial-period you can easily read this book while also experimenting with and following the exercises/code listed in the book. I agree with others that it would be helpful to include a link to an existing DB but you can also take the accountability and responsibility approach as well and just enter the code and create/develop your own database which will help seat your new-found knowledge and capability. Database experience is opening a whole new level/dimension of IT computing for users such as myself and this is a great place to start!

I enjoy the 'For Dummies' books. They're simply and (in my experience) dummy proof.
Access 2013 For Dummies is no different. They take things slow and explain for these who may not even know a thing about databases.
The only down side is it doesn't go very in depth - though no one should expect this from a 'For Dummies' book.
But I covers the basics perfectly.
I taught myself Access and VBA already understand databases and programming fairly well. I bought this book to make sure there were no holes in my understanding and has a reference.
I'd recommend this book for anyone looking to learn Access and may not have a great understanding of databases design or Microsoft's office programs.
However, for someone trying to expand beyond that of moderate, look elsewhere.
Still, a nice read.

Don't Waste Your Money!!!

This book does not get into any real detail or any real explanation of Reports. Forms and Reports are not the same thing. Yes, they can be similar in some aspects but they do not always react the same way. Especially, when it comes to creating them. The reports property sheet alone has more functionality and much more difficult to figure out. The main reason I purchased this book was for help with reports. I have no problem creating a form... reports are a different story. I will be honest I not read the rest of the book yet BUT if it is the same as what I did read it is definitely not worth the money.

High Opt. 2 made easy to learn

This book focuses on the card counting system called High Opt 2. High Opt 2 is considered the Rolls Royce of all blackjack card counts because it outperforms all of the other systems, however, it contains alot of matrix numbers that make it difficult to learn for some people. The book includes a simplified version of High Opt.2 that makes it easier to learn.

Since High Opt.2 is mostly used in single and double deck games, the author makes recomendations as to which counts to use for shoe games.

The book also teaches complete Basic Strategy and an abbreviated version. Some of the other topics include how to win at tournament blackjack, internet blackjack, team play, camouflage, money management, and his experiences playing blackjack internationally including being harrassed by US customs upon re-entering the US with $40,000 in cash. It turns out Congress gives customs the authority to strip search anyone, including US citizens, entering the country with alot of money. They didn't do that to him, but it's scary to know that's what the law is. The author also sprinkles in personal anecdotes about his own experiences playing blackjack all over the country.

Good book with caveats

Very good on basic strategy, money management, non-card counting tactics, the internet, promotions, and almost everything else you would want to know about playing backjack seriously or professionally. Blackwood also writes very well and has a number of interesting stories to tell. The book is enjoyable to read for his personal history and general observations. But the book loses one star for advanced strategies. The matrix charts he puts in the book are not adequately explained. He pivots between Hi-Lo and Hi-Opt strategies and between single/double and six decks, which is confusing. He talks about single and double handed blackjack a lot, but he also says that these games are harder and harder to find, especially in the northeast corridor. I doubt it would be inaccurate to say that very few people will master all the "million-dollars strategies" required for winning big at blackjack that Blackwood used. But overall, it's an interesting and worthwhile book.
